First day with Guitar

Yesterday was my first day at Guitar and was bit excited and reluctant too. I was excited because this was my first is my musical instrument which I am learning and my dream had come true. I was reluctant as I was not sure whether I will be successful or not. This I think only my dedication will make me a pro or else the Guitar would eat the dust at the corner of my room.

Early morning I went over to Manoj's house to pick him up. We went over to Chris Avinash who was our sensei for the guitar. I had not yet bought my guitar and Manoj had told me that he has a spare at home. So we went over to his house. He has a cute 2/3 year old daughter and a good looking wife. Then we waited for him over the sofa and to my surprise he was a typical rock guitarist. He had long hair, style of talking was similar to any band guys whom I had met before. He was pretty good at talking and presentings too. When I told him I dont know anything about guitar, he told he doesnt mind and it is good for him.

He got me a big Guitar from inside and he set his electric guitar. The electric guitar was really awesome. I always used to watch it on TVs or in Rock shows but never at such a distance. So he began with his pace of teaching. He loaded me with all the terms of music and guitar and I was really confused beginner. I thought I am gone again and this my first and last class. I thought I cant do it. But he told me what is important later. He told me about, notes, chords(group of notes) strings (6-1), the name to these strings (Every Boy Gets Dessert After Eating EBGDAE) , frets (the bridges on the guitar) on the handle etc.

After this he though me to keep my fingers inbetween the frets which would bring good vibration. He also told me when to move my writst forward, how to move between the strings, and how to use the pick and strike against the strings. Then he asked me to practice the three finger excercise which would help me in becoming dexter to move my fingers. The excercise was simple but straneous. I was suppose to keep my fingers first three on the first three frets one after the other and hit the pick simultaneously. Then I should move to the next string. I had to practice it repeatedly and continuosly. In the mean time he started teaching Manoj and he had known guitar already. In between Chris used to play some of the good tunes and used get enthusiastic about playing the same but unfortunately couldnt. May be some day I would be able to play the same way. We completed our practice and decided that I would purchase the guitar else I would get the practice.

We went over to residency road first to the Rythm guitar shop recommended by Chris and talked to him. We though we will have our food and then purchase the guitar. We had our food at some restaurant not so good and I dont remember the name too. Manoj wanted to purchase books from Crossword as he had some coupon. So we went over there and passed our time searching good books. He bought two fiction books. Then we went over to the music shop. Over ther he started showing all types of Guitars and there was wide range of guitars. Starting from 1500 to 15000. We found one particular guitar quiet interesting and we both were really interested in buying the same. The price was too steep for me; 2500 after discount. So I told him my budget of 2000 and in the end he gave me guitar which was similar in look but was bit cheaper and ok kind.

Later we went over to Manoj's place and I started practicing a bit. I was really feeling sleepy as I had slept very late the previous day and slept for five minutes. After that I came over to my home showed my guitar to Sis and mom. They said it is not worth buying until you practise and continue working with it. So today also I practised a bit and found good sites which useful and give really good idea for a begineer. I also found good softwares and they were all trail version and you need to pay around $40 for the same. So I dropped the idea of using it. The link from guitarlessonworld is really good and worth visiting it. He has given really good information and practices.
